I think that the blue/red blankets are possibly old first class and the blue tartans business class back in the 90's. Economy class had what they called traveller blankets which were bluey/grey with blue flecks. The blankets are ideal as travelling rugs for cars (in case you get caught in a snow storm) or for covering knees for the elderly/wheelchairs - they are quite heavy)
