I am selling my stunning customised original 50s strapless prom-style wedding dress that I bought from Fur Coat No Knickers. It is a truly a one-of-a-kind and is around a size 8 (or will fit a small 10 - measurements below). It is a gorgeous nude-champagne colour with a very special silk brocade bodice that has embroidered detail using fine gold thread. It has a satin sash round the waist and an oversized satin bow at the back. The skirt is made up of layers of tulle and just falls to the shin on me (I am 5'2") so would be more like tea-length on a taller person, or I am sure you could get the whole thing (and petticoat) shortened if you wish. I am also including the net petticoat that gives it the dress its full skirt and a flexi girdle to wear underneath for that cinched-in look.
The dress has a flattering sweetheart neckline with very pretty tulle detailing on there too and there is a 32C strapless bra sewn in to the dress (this could be removed easily if you wish).
The dress is in very good condition, save for a couple of very small holes near the hem in the tulle skirt that are pretty much invisible unless you really, really look for them. I am sure that they could be repaired too. It has been professionally cleaned by a specialist bridal dry cleaner and comes with a beautiful storage box, lined with acid-free paper that will keep the dress in perfect condition and I will also include the original dress carrier and hanger from FCNK.
You will need to get a garment steamer (FCNK give you a little handheld one on loan when you finally pick up your dress to do this) and give the dress a steam the morning of the wedding to get the tulle lying straight and get the satin bow nice and perky! I believe you can buy them for around £15.
I paid £1800 in total for the dress, customisation, petticoat and girdle. I only wore it on the day of the wedding and it pains me to sell it, but sadly I can no longer fit into it as my ribcage has permanently expanded after having a baby. I think it's just too gorgeous to remain in storage for the rest of its life and deserves more outings!
Please contact me if you are interested or would like to make an offer. I am currently located in central London and welcome anyone who would like to try it on. It is an absolute dream of a wedding gown - very easy to wear and dance in, it photographs beautifully and is still very bridal despite it not being the classic white dress.
