Louis Vuitton Trunk - Orange Vuittonite
This trunk dates from circa 1920-1930 and considering its age and the extensive traveling it has endured the trunk is in great condition. The construction of the case consists of a strong wooden frame wrapped with the rare orange vuittonite canvass and finished with brown leather protective trims, and branded studs, clasps and latches.
Both serial numbers can be found on the inside of the lid and below the main clasp. These can identify where and when the trunk was made.
The Trunk was owned by C F A Pantin who we believe was a British Zoologist educated at Christ College Cambridge. Pantin was elected as a fellow of the Royal Society in 1937 and won the Royal medal in 1950. He went on to become the president of the Marine Biological Association. More information can be found out about him on Wikipedia.

This would make a wonderful coffee table or center piece for any room.
As can be expected from an antique trunk of this age there are marks and scuffs to both the fabric and the leather to the exterior of the case (Please study photos). The interior, although in great condition, is missing the internal tray and in one corner, on the underside of the lid, the fabric has come away due to a missing fabric pin. (See picture 7 - top right of photo).
I am happy to ship worldwide, however if you live outside the UK please contact me prior to purchasing for a courier quote. The postage price indicated is UK only and will be delivered by myself in person for peace of mind. You may of course collect from Leeds area if you would prefer.
The trunk will not be dispatched until funds have cleared. I am happy to collect cash on delivery (UK) or for worldwide I would require a bank transfer.
If you require any further information or photos of the trunk please do not hesitate to ask. I would advise viewing the trunk prior to purchasing as this is a no return sale. I have tried to be as honest and descriptive as possible within the listing.
It has been a joy to own an incredible item with such a rich history I will be sad to see it go, but it is time for someone else to enjoy it.
