She used this book when she was studying for her vet exams.

Each chapter has a fully referenced section, which is incredibly handy for excellent essay writing, because you don't have to physically get hold of all of the referenced publications in order to cite whichever bit of information you need to support your essay subject. - The more references you can cite in degree level essays, the more impressed your tutors are, and it gets you significantly higher marks.
The reference sections list multiple authors, and cite books, journals, studies, and papers. Tutors like that, too. Science degrees demand much wider reading material than just books. Citing studies and papers from journals is always well-received - expected, even.
34 contributors have each written or co-written chapters on their particular specialty - many of them vets or lecturers, so people from veterinary science departments, veterinary teaching hospitals and universities, veterinary medicine departments, large animal medicine and surgery, agricultural colleges, the Royal Vet. College in London, etc., mostly from Australia and the US, plus one from Canada and the Royal Vet. College in London. The author is one of the contributors, and he comes from the Journal of Equine Veterinary Science in California.
The comprehensive references are from a huge number of different sources and authors. For example, Michael J. Glade, from the dept. of pharmacology at Northwestern University in Chicago wrote the chapter "Nutrition For The Equine Athlete", and gives a staggering 118 seperate references. There are, as you'd expect, a few repeating authors for each specialty, because scientists who publish their research do tend to be serial publishers of their work, but there are still literally dozens of different authors at the end of each chapter. I've never seen another equine science book with so many references from so many authors.
A lot of the content is hardcore science, but there is also more easily accessible info in there, with clear diagrams and explanations of anatomy and physiology, gait, movement, shoeing, cardiovascular system, muscles and nerves, etc., sitting alongside the occasional photograph, plus heaps of technical images (ultrasound, EMG, echocardiograms) ECG graphs charts, data graphs, and so on.
All 329 pages pristine, no markings, notes or highlighting. Plain end-papers front and back. Hardback cover with library-type plastic cover protection.
A very special book, and an absolute must for anyone with the equine athlete's welfare at heart, like trainers and riders, as well as students of equine sports science degrees and in vet schools.
