step by step to make hanging christmas decoration

What you will need to create your hanging wooden decoration:

  • Wooden log (size depends on your own preference)
  • Saw
  • Drill
  • Superglue
  • Sharpie marker pen
  • Ribbon
  • Wooden hearts (optional)
  • Pebble with hole (optional)

This #DIYXmas craft involves the use of a saw and drill. Precautions must be put in place to avoid any injury whilst performing this DIY project.

How to create your hanging wooden decoration

Step One: Firstly, you will need to cut the log into circles with a depth of 1cm. You will need a saw to do this, simply cut vertically into the log until you have enough pieces with which you can write your desired quote onto.

Step Two: Secondly, you will have to write your quote onto the pieces of wood using the Sharpie marker pen. In this instance the quote is ‘Love is the closest thing to magic’, you can choose any quote you wish.

Step Three: Next you will need to drill holes into the top and bottom of every piece of wood; this will make it much easier to thread the pieces together with ribbon.

Step Four: Now you need to cut the ribbon, it will need cutting 10 cm in length. The amount of pieces will depend on the length of the mobile, in this piece there are 10 pieces of ribbon.

Step Five: The next stage is threading the ribbon through each of the drilled holes; you will then have to superglue the ribbon onto the back of the wood to secure it in place.

Step Six: Almost done! Extra touches can be made all the way through, as you can see wooden hearts and a large pebble with a hole in was added to the end which added a personal touch.
