If you’re having trouble finding what you want, follow these simple instructions to help you navigate your way through the site.
First of all, in the left hand corner there's an option to 'BUY'. If you click on this, you can get started with searching for the item you want.
It will take you to a page where there's an option to browse through different categories or search with keywords. To use the search feature, use the following instructions -
Think of the item you want - a sofa, car, dress? Search for the broad term to get more adverts to browse through. If the item is more specific, whether by brand (Chesterfield, Peugeot, Topshop) or by style (leather, blue, floral) then include this in your search. So, 'blue peugeot' or 'floral topshop dress'. This is what the results page will look like. If you select 'VIEW ALL ADVERTS' you can scroll through every item that came up in the search.
Once you're on the full results page, you can narrow down your search by area, how new the advert is, price and what kind of advert it is - rent/buy/wanted etc. This is your chance to really personalise your search so every item that is listed is relevant to you.
Once you have found an item that takes your fancy, all you have to do is respond to the buyer. If the advert has been up for more than 10 days, you can reply straight away and this is what you will see -
If the advert is under 10 days old, you can respond straight away, if you have a full membership. Full membership costs just £5 a year, and it's easy to upgrade your account! This is what you will see if an item is under 10 days old -
When you reply to an ad, you can ask the seller more questions about the item or you can jump right in and give them an offer for the item!
The other way to find an item is to search through the category you believe it should belong in.
Once you have clicked on a category, you can then search within this category to narrow down the results.
The more specific you are with your search, the less adverts you will get and the more relevant the results will be for you.
If you can't find what you want, save your search or get alerts, and we'll contact you when more items have gone up with those keywords.
On Preloved you can also create a Wanted ad, so don't give up if your search isn't as successful first time round. Share your wanted items on Twitter or Facebook with relevant hashtags and you never know, someone could do the hardwork for you and contact you about the exact item you are wanting to buy!
