Wanted
Wanted - thrown away meat/fish/seafood/eggs
I'm vegan but I have 4 dogs and 8 cats who refuse to eat a vegetarian diet. I buy petfood meat for them but I hate doing so. I'm trying to find a way to feed them on meat that humans don't want/throw away as this wouldn't affect the farm animals. If anyone has any meat that they are going to throw away because they don't like it or it has past its sell by date please let me have it! Cats must always be fed fresh meat, but dogs are scavengers. They evolved eating meat that had been left by other predators that was often rotting, and they will bury a meaty bone and go back later and eat it ripe. The enzymes in ripe meat are good for them. Not that I would give them meat that old - sell by dates, by law, have to be earlier than the date the meat goes off. So if you have meat that is not safe for human consumption, it would be perfectly safe for dogs. If you have any that is not past its sell by date, my cats would be very grateful too. Eggs that are past their sell by date are risky for humans but perfectly safe for dogs. Mine love eating raw eggs shell and all and they're very good for them - but I won't buy them or let my friends give them some of theirs because of the cruelty involved. If you are going to throw any away please give them to my pets! Also any hotels or restaurants or shops who sell meat or fish and throw away other body parts (heads/guts/offal/skin/bones) - if you would let me have it my pets and I would be extremely thankful. I'm not trying to be a cheapskate and feed my pets for free - where ever their meat comes from, I still have to buy veg, rice, lentils, potatoes, and supplements for them. I just hate buying meat (especially the amount 8 cats and 4 dogs eat) as this causes more farm animals to suffer and die.
The oldest dog in the world until recently was a 29 year old called Brambles who was vegan. Every day he ate a big bowl of rice, lentils and organic vegetables. I tried feeding that to my dogs and they looked at me as if I was crazy. Now I buy meaty petfood and mix that in with the above, but I hate buying it. I'm desparate to find meat or fish thats going to be thrown away, as this wouldn't affect the farm animals at all.
I read a letter in a newspaper recently from a man who said he had thrown away a whole leg of lamb because it contained garlic (which he doesn't like). Is there anyone like that in Blackpool?
