Description

Made in 1939, 56 ' by about 12' 4' draft, she was originally a Dutch coastal patrol boat. She came over to Ireland in the 60's I think and was an angling boat in Kerry before coming up to Killaloe. In the 80's she was bought by Des Foley of Keshcarrigan and the back 1/3 was replated, the original engine was replaced with a 6 cylinder Perkins and she was fitted and licensed as a tour boat on the Shannon Erne waterwayto to seat 50 people. Des has many amusing anecdotes involving Gertie and the varoius V.I.P's and celebrities that sailed with her. We bought her in 1997 and the front 2/3 of hull was replated by the famous Richard and Mary team in Shannon Harbour. The shaft and bearing was also replaced. She comes with a Bow thruster which is partly installed. She has 2 large stainless steel water tanks below deck.. She has an outside sea toilet, a woodburning stove, a gas fridge, a full size bath and a gas water heater. She aso has an inverter and lighting system.

The new owner will want to replace the superstructure which has seen better days and redesign the living space however she only needs a small amount of engineering work to go cruising or can stay where she is in the picturesque setting of Shannon Harbour, moored conveniently a few yards from the dry dock, (and two pubs) The mooring fees are currently 140 euro per year.
