Description
My boyfriend and I purchased three lovely young gerbils but as his living situation is not suibtable to keep them we've decided to sell them on to a better home. All three gerbils are healthy, active, female, all from the same litter, all about 13 weeks old.
One is a light sandy colour, one is grey with a white underside and one is a dark grey not-quite-black colour. They're all very adorable! All three gerbils must be sold together as they're used to living with each other and gerbils in general are sociable animals and will get sad and lonely if they're seperated after a period of time or are bought alone.
Their tank is also for sale. I would advise buying this with the gerbils as not only are they used to living in it, but tanks are quite expensive in general, and this tank will obviously be going at a little cheaper than the original buying price. I doubt you'll find one for cheaper buying it seperately. Its a big glass tank with a ground level and three corner levels for them to climb up where you can place toys/wood chews/food/water. It has a wire mesh lid which slides back to open and closes securely. The tank is 24 inches (two foot) long, 13 inches wide, and 16 inches high. I've included a brief shot of the tank but there are no pictures of the gerbils by themselves yet because it takes one person to hold them and another to take the picture! So give me till tonight to include better photographs of all three gerbils. The tank itself is more spacious than it looks; the gerbils like to make mountains of their bedding and pile it around everywhere :D Be careful when carrying the tank as it is quite heavy.
If you don't wish to purchase the original tank (it is in pristine condition) then I would still suggest getting a similar glass tank as any wire cage will quickly be demolished by their gnawing teeth!
All three are happy to be held though it might take a couple of days for them to get used to your particular smell. They will also eat from your hand if you bring them something tasty. WARNING: If you buy these with the intent to give them to your children they are very speedy and might escape the grasp of a younger or inexperienced child.
These gerbils are lively and active and love to bury and dig and make little bridges of their sawdust. They also enjoy a bath in chinchilla sand if you can get it for them. We have a bottle of it which will be included if asked for. Their constant scratching and digging and chewing may get tiresome if you're sleeping in the same room with them, so my advice is to place them somewhere other than where you sleep. Perhaps in the family room or kitchen. They do not smell unless you don't clean them out weekly. Verbally, they make no noise that i've heard so far. They groom each other but do not squeak.
The gerbils are 5 pounds each, so £15 altogether. The tank was sold to me for £50 so i'm selling it at £40, as its in perfect condition and has only been used for a few weeks! So thats 15 for just the gerbils, 55 for gerbils and tank.
Tank comes with feeding bowl, drinking bowl, wheel, wooden bridge, chew toys and a bottle of chinchilla sand and a sand bowl.
I really would not like to sell for less than the asking price but if they go by for a couple of weeks with no one wanting them I will be willing to negotiate. They are very sweet creatures, full of vitallity, and I hope they find a good home.
