Hitachi has also implemented Thermal Fly-height Control (TFC) for improved error rates, and iridium-manganese-chromium (IrMnCr) read heads for improved reliability. Hitachi has done extensive testing to verify the drives best-in-class standing, making it the Super-pendicular Drive.
