Blue and Gold Macaw

Buddy’s previous owner was an old lady who had to go to hospital for a quite long time; she described him as a five year old boy.

I was approached by a friend to see if I could help with the matter of selling him. As time was running out I agreed to pay £600.00 (£300.00 under the asking price), hopefully to resell him.

After getting him home I was not very confident in reselling him, he was very noisy, screaming a lot, not only at feeding time, and not very sociable.

We thought we would have to try to change this behaviour before we could resell him.

He has come along way since then. A proper feeding regime and treating where appropriate.

We feel he needs a special type of person with plenty of time and patience, and he would become a loving companion, as the pictures above prove.

Any future owners would have to meet him and get to know him before purchase.

My daughter in the pictures above would dearly love to keep him, but my other daughter and wife breed African Greys and we simply do not have the space for him, we never intended to keep him for this long (9 months).

He comes with a large cage and a aviator harness, although we have had only slight success in using it, because he generally seems to dislike flying.
