Description
a set of 13 dolls all of a black race made out of wishbones. One doll is holding a tiny white baby, we have been told they were certainly made by the American Indians around 1700. The dolls appear to be a wedding party with bride and groom. All dolls are dressed in silk, lace with petticoats and turban and ribbon head wear. The dolls were given to my mother over 30 years ago by an elderly lady going into a care home, my mother was living in Boston Massachusetts at the time of the gift. They were given to the lady Miss Ball when she was a child by her grandmother. It has a small hand written Christmas wish dated 1894. We know the name of the ladies family form which they came, the name is The Buckingham family who were well known shipping magnets. I have contacted a few Museums including the Smithsonian in Washington DC. They all had a great interest but wanted them donated or given on loan.
