Description

She’s a Peugeot 405 tdi GLX saloon on an M plate.

A very honest car, good workhorse that has never let me down. I consistently get 65 mpg out of her and the engine is mechanically sound as a bell.

I'm not going to feed you any b/s as I don’t want to waste your time or mine with tyre kicking so here are the grumbly bits.

1) She grinds a bit when going into second gear when cold, I’ve a mate who works for Pug and he tells me that the most probable cause is that the clutch needs adjusting, this is bourne out, imho by the fact that if you push the clutch pedal into the floor, it doesn't grind. Once she’s warmed up, the problem seems to go away.

2) The near side wing mirror is smashed.

3) Where she’s been stood up in the sun, the paint job on the bonnet and offside wing has become dull but I have given a wee corner a bit of a rub and can assure you that a bit of elbow grease and some polish will bring it back to its shine, I guess if you wanted to go the whole hog, T-cut would do a marvellous job.

4) The TAX ran out last month and the MoT runs out in October. Apart from the mirror there is absolutely no reason why she should not fly through the next one.

The good bits:

1) When I was able to drive her, she took me to see the g/f in Nottingham every weekend on a quarter of a tank and never gave me any trouble.

2) All the electrics are sound and everything works. If you look closely at the pics you will see a chockblock near the handbrake, that’s a live 12v feed which I used to run a 4 way cigarette lighter thingy to run the CB radio, SatNav, Speed Cam Detector and Inverter, the battery is bang on.

3) She has a very nice JVC radio / cd player and to be honest, for factory fitted speakers, I was impressed with the sound quality.

4) She sports factory fit semi-bucket style seats that are as comfy as you could wish for and the whole interior, with a bit of a hoover and spit and polish is as close to showroom as you’ll get for a car of this age.

5) Always starts first turn of the key, even when she's been stood unused for ages, very very little smoke for a diesel.

6) Plenty of miles left on the tyres.

7) Very spacious and comfortable car.

I'm not a car dealer, not even part time, this is the first car I have sold in many years. I have a very good reason for sale which I'm quite happy to share, email me if interested. All I can say is that she really is an honest and reliable car, hand on heart.

If you want it MoT'd and Taxed, I'm happy to do that, just add the price of the TAX plus £200 to cover my time and expenses to the sale price and I'll sort it for you.

I have just been chatting to a mate, he is of the opinion that this car lends itself to use with Bio-diesel / Waste Veg Oil / ? so as well as exceptional MPG, you could run it on exceptionally cheap fuel, what more could you ask?

No I personally have not put anything but pump diesel through it.

Well I think thats about it, sorry if the last bit all sounds a bit negative but I've heard so many horror stories from people selling cars on here i had to cover myself.
