Frank Meadow Sutcliffe framed print Whitby Abbey Shrouded in Mist. This atmospheric photograph is shrouded with a brown mount & has a beautiful sturdy frame of gold with an antique effect. The frame has a stand or can be hung from the wall.The frame is 36cm x 31cm (14inches x 12.2inches). On the back of the picture is a sticker telling the fascinating tale of the Bells of the Abbey during the dissolution of the Monasteries. This unusual photograph of St Hildas Abbey shows the East transept & impressive East window with fallen masonry in the foreground. The sea mist, which shrouds the Abbey & gives this photograph a mysterious ghostly feel, can cover the town very rapidly & alter the landscape dramatically.
