Description
If you are looking for a beautiful little camper that is as easy to drive as a car, very economical (60mpg) with gleaming white rust free paintwork then you need to meet Snowy!, shes an original Romahome, built on the Isle of Wight, and is ready for you to eat, sleep and be merry in! She has a fully equipped kitchen with a gas cooker that has two rings and a grill, a three way Electrolux fridge, which can be run from the van battery whilst the engine is going, or from the 12 volt leisure battery, or from 230 volt when the van is plugged in to electric hook-up and by the onboard gas supply. The sink has a small tap which triggers a powerful pump that is connected to the onboard water supply which can hold up to 5 gallons of fresh water; this supply can be filled externally via a cap located by the passenger door. The kitchen area also has a mirror, an enclosed wardrobe, storage and its own florescent light. The lounge area can seat four comfortably on two individual sofas facing eachother, the base of these seats lifts up to provide lots of clean, dry storage. There are two fold down tables, so youve got plenty of room to play cards, do puzzles, prepare food etc. The cab stereo has an external speaker in the rear and there is also a small flatscreen colour television with a remote control. There are two large double glazed windows which open upwards to 90 degrees, they can be locked at any angle, when opened fully this makes the living area feel twice as big! The bed is a good size, big enough for the both of us and little 18 month old Millie between, it covers the whole width of the van which is about 5 foot and has an extension shelf giving over six foot of length, there are also two directional reading lights above the bed. The bed is very easy to make, you simply place two wooden supports across the gap between the sofas, then slide the sofa bases across. It is a lovely feeling, when youve found a good camping spot and youre tucked up, windows locked, curtains drawn, radio on softly, sipping a bed time drink whilst reading a good book, ah, the simple pleasures in life! Another great feature is that in the morning you just need to sit at the end of the bed to make breakfast as everything is in easy reach, just the job for breakfast in bed The rear door is a barn style, so you can have the bottom section closed whilst the top is open, the door windows, along with the lounge windows are double glazed, making Snowy lovely and warm when its chilly outside. There is space above the cab for a small person to sleep as long as they are no taller than 4 ½ foot! The space is very useful for night time storage as you can just chuck everything up there when its time to make the bed, this is the ideal place for the television. The power is provided from a either leisure battery located under the bench seat, the van battery whilst the ignition is turned on or from a mains socket if Snowy is hooked up to an electric point in a camp site, there is an external locker which contain the LPG bottle for cooking and running the fridge. There is even a clean chemical toilet along with the necessary bottles of chemicals needed so you will never be caught short, the toilet does not need to be moved in order to use, you simply slide one of the sofa bases off and hey presto! The driving position is the same as a normal car, you just have to get used to using the side mirrors. The engine is an 1800cc diesel which runs like a dream, I havent steam cleaned the engine or even cleaned the engine bay, Ive had no reason to go under there apart from to check the oil, but you can see the head gasket area is oil free, just not dirt free! Although she was born in 1990, shes only done 55000 miles; shes previously been kept indoors so has no typical green algae on the roof etc so she looks years younger! Shes got 9 months MOT and is taxed till the end of October. Niggly bits: One of the four sofa cushions is worn and will need recovering at one stage also the corner of one of the lounge windows had been damaged, it opens and shuts fine and is waterproof but is chipped in the corner and has a hair line crack, I have taken photos and will happily forward on. So Snowy requires a new home, she wont take up much room on a driveway, she wont upset the neighbours like other carbuncle vans would, she is the perfect vehicle to escape the monotony of normal life, either down to the beach to whittle away an autumnal afternoon with a good book and a cuppa, or, for the more adventurous an exciting, economical European adventure!
