Description
HiI purchased a standard Lakland 44-02 in 3-tone sunburst with a maple fretboard 2 months ago. Well... I've taken it to some band practices and used it at home on my Marshall MB4210 but I just can't get along with the tone of this beast. Obviously I heard great things about how versatile the 44-02 are and how you dial into any tone from a P-bass, to a J-bass to a MM sound but the thing is... for me this bass is WAY TOO versatile The 44-02 is a fantastic bass in terms of playability, build construction, set-up and many many manyyyy tone features but it's just abit too much for me to be honest sad.gif I seriously can't say anything wrong with this bass but the tone is just unfortunately down to personal preference really. If you're looking for the swiss army knife of bass, imo the 44-02 is pretty much on that road. I was pretty much looking for a plug in and play bass with some active EQ tweaking, rather than turning a knob or two here and there or adjusting the amps EQ settings (even changing the MID switches in the control cavity didn't get me far as I got fed up flipping the bass upside down, adjusting the switch, flipping it back and vice versa... in the end it was just a nuisance unfortunately) The 44-02 is in totally mint condition with no knocks, dings or scratches. The bass is currently strung with a new set of D'addario heavy strings. And for those that care, this is a Made in Korea model before Lakland moved factories to Indonesia. Imo... I do notice some very minor construction quality that the Korean models are abit better than the Indonesian models. I guess whenever I sell this, I will be ordering an active jazz bass from Japan. Collection is welcome if you don't mind coming to West London or I can meet you somewhere in London. I'm looking to sell this for £800 ONO (Bought this new for £1,139, doesn't come with a gig bag but I still have the original factory box that Headline music (UK distributors of Lakland) sent this puppy in). The fate of my next bass depends on if you take this tone monster away from me =) Thanks for reading
