One of four that remain to be offered for sale, this is an arts and crafts-inspired, tree-type structure made from flotsam and jetsam driftwood mounted on a substantial hardwood base.
The base of the structure, which measures 26" wide x 4" deep x 4" high at it's maximum dimensions, is made from a dense, hard-wearing hardwood (most likely Iroko) sourced from stock made available following the replacement of sea defense groynes at Eastoke, Hayling Island in 2014.
The base of the structure has been drilled-through in one place to permit the mounting of a 20" high M6 threaded rod.
A hole has been countersunk on the underside of the base so that
neither the nut which secures the rod to the base nor the rod prevents the base from sitting naturally on any required surface.
Onto the rod have been mounted specimens of flotsam and jetsam sourced locally on Hayling Island.
The rod is topped with a butterfly nut and a dome nut which, when used correctly in conjunction with the nut on the bottom of the rod, permits the base to sit naturally on any required surface.
