In good condition for year. This boat would make a lovely opportunity for a family to take up sailing at a reasonable cost. This boat is the original cobramold design, made in England. It comes complete with a 4hp Ailsa Craig outboard motor, 4 wheeled trailer and bilge keel and tarpaulin (renewed since these pictures were taken).
This boat has never been used in salt water (lake Coniston only).
Comes with 3 life jackets and a blow up dingy with paddle (but not sure of its condition as it has not been used for some years).
The Leisure 17 stands up well to her canvas, is light on the helm and
a very easy boat to handle. She is ideal for short-handed and family crews. Keels are cast iron, the twin keel version having a high aspect ratio hydrofoil section. Rudder and skeg are glassfibre with stainless steel framework and fittings. The deck has moulded non slip areas for safe working. The spars are in aluminium alloy Halyards are internal. Standing rigging and rigging screws are in stainless steel. The large self draining cockpit has a transom locker for outboard storage (when not in use)
and a gas bottle.
Down below, a four berth arrangement is standard with bunks that run down the whole length of the cabin on each side. The Leisure 17 sails very well, and are often quite successful in club racing.
