Oxfam Boutique Durham Published by John Lane: The Bodley Head, London, 1896. The ninth volume of the famous Victorian quarterly publication. Contains over twenty short stories, poems and essays by eminent authors of the time such as John Buchan and Baron Corvo, accompanied with illustrations edited by the publisher. The original art editor, Aubrey Beardsley, had by this time been removed from this position following the arrest of his friend Oscar Wilde in 1895. This book is as much an antique as a piece of literature, and a real part of English literary history. Cover is soiled and worn around edges. Approx 10cm tear on edge of spine. Sizeable damp mark on bottom edge of pages. Marks and occasional tears throughout book, but bulk of pages and are in good condition. Some occasional pencil marks/inscriptions throughout.
