Alfie is a 16.1 Dutch warmblood with Marco Polo and Samba
bloodlines. He is a thorough gentleman in the stable, he does not kick bite or barge. He is excellent in regards to catching, loading and clipping (can be a little funny while getting his face clipped).
Alfie is a well mannered and respectful gelding but IS NOT A NOVICE RIDE!!!! He is a very intelligent boy and likes to have a rider who challenges him and keeps him guessing, he does not appreciate a nervous rider as he knows his job and likes to get on with it. He has lovely lateral paces but could do with a little work on his canter due to having a small amount of time off with me starting uni and moving out. He is a very cheeky character and will try to get out doing things if you aren't paying attention while riding him - avoiding an outline for example. If you keep him focused he rides beautifully, he is just a typical male lol. He has an extremely big scopy jump, he has jumped 1m30 at home with the scope to go even higher, he absolutely loves to jump. His fitness will need improving slightly before he can be jumped and his schooling may need a few touch up sessions just to get him back into it. He is very forward going whilst jumping which makes it enjoyable for the rider. I would like him to be primarily schooled, occasionally hacked out. He needs to practise flying change and courses of jumps (height is up to you). Alfie prefers to jump 80cm + as he is confident and loves to be challenged. The right rider will be able to compete him at local unaffiliated shows as frequently as possible, he has so much potential and cannot be wasted so a competition rider is preferred or someone wanting to begin competing to help Alfie to excel while I am at university studying english lit, politics and German over the next 4 years or so. He has competed at unaffiliated and cash jumping shows and been placed every time, he is collected calm and bold whilst out. He does not spook and is not fazed by anything in the show ring or out on hacks. Alfie requires a rider with soft hands as he has a sensitive mouth and has been known to fight back when too much pressure has been applied to the reins. He will be affiliated at some point early next year after he has done a few little shows for practise first. He thoroughly enjoys cross country too so he is a gelding of many traits.
Alfie is at a farm in South hetton which offers great hacking, a huge outdoor arena equipped with show jumps and the odd fillers. His stable is brand new as the farm has just recently been totally refurbished. I am ideally looking for someone to have him 2-3 times per week. You MUST have insurance already or starting from the day of the loan, a written contract can be provided as mutual understanding between myself and you the loaner. Loaner must contribute towards his bedding, livery and shoes. Vet bills will be on your hands if it occurs under your care, which is standard. I am asking a generous price of £15 per week to have the opportunity to experience a once in a life time horse.
no time wasters, I do require one or two viewings before deciding as it is difficult to tell after the first go. A reference would also be great. Rider must be light and be over 18.
