3.5t 2003 Renault Master Horsebox Conversion.
Converted April 2015.
We bought this box last year to use as our business vehicle, unfortunately due to increased overheads, the box is now up for sale. Rear facing, stalled for 2 horses/ponies, however, I would personally never suggest travelling 2 horses due to weight!
MOT until April 2017. The box had one advisory this year which was that the clutch pedal anti slip cover was missing, it was actually under the front seat! It was MOT’d by Fosters in Battle.
Current Mileage is 144769. To be sold with personalised plate.
The box has a 1280 payload – weighbridge certificate to prove this. It is a high top van – same height as a Ifor 505 trailer – I have had big 16.2hh horses in this and they have travelled beautifully.
Good points. Serviceable spare tyre, new front tyre and all other tyres are good, cambelt done at 136876 miles. Last year it had extensive injector work done on it due to a starting problem. Has had a new driveshaft fitted, new glow plugs, new battery and other mechanical work done since we have had it. It has also just had a new windscreen fitted.
Fitted with 2 saddle racks, 2 bridle racks, high and wide breast bar. In all the time that I was travelling horses and ponies, we never had an issues with horses and this breast bar. Breast padding has also been installed.
Bad points: The body work has taken a bit of a battering and there is a dent on the drivers side on the bottom panel. The spring on the ramp broke, this does not affect the function or the safety of the ramp, just makes it heavy. We have been looking at replacing the spring but we have not got round to it due life being so busy! We still have the spring and have been advised that this can be done easily by someone that knows what they are doing. The main floor was checked as part of the MOT as it had a CAT 7 MOT. However, due to the amount of disinfecting it has had over the last year, I would personally consider replacing the marine ply between rubber matting and chassis floor within the next year.
It can be driven on a standard car license and mechanically, this vehicle is sound, it is more cosmetic!
If I could afford to keep this on the road myself, I would! It is incredibly economical, last year I did a trip to Liverpool and back (620 mile round trip) on less than a tank of diesel!
Box will be sold as seen.
