I am selling a beautiful Tell City Chair Company Tanbark solid oak dining room table and chair set that I have owned since new in the late 1970's. I had several pieces of Tell City furniture shipped over from the states when I moved to the Uk approx 30 years ago.
Reason I am regretfully selling this beautifully made furniture is because I have now down-sized and have no space for any of the furniture, otherwise I would of kept it all for ever!
The dining room set was used literally once a year for a Christmas meal with the family in one of the dining room's and then it was merely a show piece in the house. The condition of the dining room set is as you can imagine in beautiful condition. It would usually have a table cloth, place mats and seat covers on and dusted/polished religiously hence why it has been kept in such fantastic condition for the past 30 years.
From a standard look the round dining room table seats 4 but adding the middle extension (minutes later) makes the table into a comfortable 6 seater set-up.
In the sale you get the following:
x1 Tell City Tanbark finish Solid Oak dining room table (with middle piece extension)
46" 1/2 Length x 48" Width x 29" Height
(as a standard 4 seater)
58" Length x 48" Width x 29" Height
(with extended middle piece as a 6 seater)
x4 Tell City Tanbark finish solid oak arrowback spindle back dining room chairs
20" Width x 21" Depth by 38 & 3/4" Height each
x2 Tell City Tanbark finish solid oak captain spindle back dining room chairs
25" 3/4 Width x 22" 1/2 Depth x 38" 3/4 Height
Pick-up is preferred due to weight, cash on collection.
Some information on who are the Tell City Chair Company:
The Tell City Chair Company furniture is very rare these days (you won't find any for sale over here in the U.K.) in America as the company from Indiana, USA has now stopped making the furniture five years ago. You will find some second hand early pieces in collector shop's and at great cost. Reason being the majority of old growth oak trees are simply gone. This type of furniture usually get's passed down through generations in the States. Most of the new furniture these day's has no where near the quality and construction and sturdiness of Tell City Chair Company furniture end of.
The company actually started back in November 1865 and closed the factory in September 2011. This type of furniture was very popular in the 1990's in the States but also very expensive. To put it into perspective I paid a lot of money for all my Tell City furniture and this was back in the 70's! You pay for quality back then and you pay for what you get these day's too! Quality counts if you want furniture to last!
The oak on my dining room set is most certainly unique and beautiful of which the surface has a durable practical Formica top as standard.
Any queries whatsoever please don't hesitate to message me.
(Please feel free to see my other sale adds listed for my other Tell City furniture as it was all bought together to compliment each other in the household).
