This is a very reluctant sale due to a new baby on it’s way.
We bought this lovely little MGF to use during the summer months as a third car. Our news of a new family member was a bit of a shock and unexpected. But as we now only have another 6 months before our lives are changed forever, we do need to be sensible and sell the ‘fun car’.
It’s a real shame as we have really enjoyed her. She has been an absolute pleasure to drive and we are sad to have to let her go.
We were over the moon when we found her. The previous owner was a member of the ‘MG Owners Club’ So had taken good care of her and also treated her to quite a few expensive upgrades! Since owning her, we have made sure that she has been very well cared for and maintained to the highest standards. We have also spent quite a lot of money on a few bits too as we were not expecting to have to have to sell her so suddenly….
The first thing to note is her condition, which really is very good. Her previous owner was a mature ‘MG Owners Club’ member. So we knew that we were buying a car that had been very well looked after and all of the history and receipts for everything were included in the sale.
It’s clear to see that she has always been looked after. Even the engine bay is spotless!!!
The bright Titanium Silver paintwork does look good. However, like all older cars there are a few marks here and there. We removed 2 graphics that were on both front fenders as we thought she would look better without these. However that revealed some surface rust had gathered underneath them. Luckily it is an area which isn’t too noticeable. But I want to be honest and mention it. We were planning to get this treated at a local bodyshop. We were given a quote of £160 for both sides to be done, so not the end of the world. All of the other MGF's that we went to see had rust everywhere!!! This one was by far the best. Possibly because she spent lot of her life parked up in a garage (including whilst in our ownership).
Apart from that she really is a fantastic car!
From new she was fitted with every single factory optional extra. So she has extremely comfy black leather interior and seats. She also has alloy wheels, arm rests, chrome and silver interior trim, electric windows and mirrors, air bags, power steering, spotlights, alarm, immobiliser and central locking, plus a good sounding CD stereo system, amongst other top of the range features.
She has also been treated to quite a few upgrades;
- Full professional ecu upgrade and remap at a cost of over £800 altogether. This has increased the power to 165bhp, enhanced the drivability and greatly improved the MPG. She is far better than any of the other MGF’s we went to see before deciding upon this one!!!
- Upgraded twin stainless steel ‘SuperSport’ exhaust, which sounds really nice without sounding too loud. This wasn’t cheap!
- K&N air filter induction kit fitted to improve throttle response.
- High performance HT leads and distributor upgrade.
- Stainless steel removable luggage rack fitted.
- Seatbelt adjuster upgrade – makes a big difference!
- Leather door pocket upgrade – very handy!
- Rear wind deflector behind seats – Great for keeping your hair in place with the roof down!
- Recent new brakes with new red brake calipers.
- Brand new clutch, alternator and battery all done within the last 3,000 miles. All of that was around £1,000.
- She has also just had a full service, oil change and the cambelt was done at the same time! Less than 1000 miles ago!!! She has also had a new head gasket. So that will be a real peace of mind to any new owner. This was £940 alone! Receipts to prove.
There will be other bits too that I have forgotten to list. But already you can see from the list above that this is no ordinary MGF. It has been loved, pampered and treated to the very best of everything regardless of cost. There has been a lot of money recently spent on her!!!
She is an absolute joy to drive! Loads of room, very comfy, great fun and surprisingly economical. I’m 6ft 3” tall and have plenty of room!
As you can imagine this is by no means a slow vehicle!!! The power that is delivered from the 1.8i engine with the upgraded ecu and remap is unreal and the noise that it makes will ensure that you are grinning from ear to ear every time you go for a drive.
She is fitted with a good quality alarm and immobiliser, along with remote central locking. She also has everything that you would expect including spare wheel, tool kit / jack, locking wheel nuts, etc.
She has her V5, every single mot since new, lots or paperwork, receipts and service history. She also has a long MOT until July next year. Her millage is very low at just 80k miles and she has been serviced consistently all of her life. She is a 2000 (W) plate.
She also has 2 sets of keys and alarm/immobilizer/central locking remotes.
We have had constant compliments about how good she looks and are very sad to have to let such a special car go. But sadly we must be sensible and it’s certainly not a baby friendly car, so it is now time for her to go to a new home. This was a 3rd car that me and my partner shared so that we could enjoy a convertible on hot sunny days. But we used to fight over who’s turn it was to use it as we actually preferred it over our daily cars which were brand new, so that really does tell you something about this car!!!
You will struggle to find another like this. It is hard enough to find a good condition MGF for sale. But then finding one with all of the expensive UPGRADES that have been done, plus all the recent important mechanical replacements.
This has to be one of the best available. The only negative, as mentioned earlier is that there are a few marks here and there and the 2 sections of surface rust. But these are all fixable. The expensive and important bits are the mechanics and they have all been done! Try finding another one that has that to offer! We couldn’t find one that came close when we were searching.
I guarantee that if you come to see her, inspect her and test her, you will fall in love and take her home. She really is a great little sports car!
I have put a low asking price bearing in mind the minor surface rust repairs that would need to be done on the front fenders at some point. Do bear in mind just how much money has recently been spent on her compared to others on the market. So many expensive upgrades and mechanical work has already been done here.
Also if it was Summer I would expect her to sell for quite a bit more. So this will be a really nice bargain for someone.
