Hello, I have a cockatiel for sale, with his cage. He (not confirmed sex) is approximately 1 year old. He is not hand tame and is quite nervous. With some work he could possibly become tame. He is shaking less and less when approached now, but will not let you handle him in any way, yet. He is likely to be a carrier of PBFD (Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease), although this does not seem to affect him in any way yet. Due to this he should be the only bird in the house. It may be possible to house him with another cockatiel as these are commonly not severely affected by the disease, however I personally would avoid this unless you have him tested. He should definitely not be in a house with a larger parrot e.g. an African grey (as these are more susceptible). If you do rehome him, it may be worthwhile having him tested for the disease at a vet, as i am sure he would love some company. He enjoyed talking to my african greys across the room and became quite depressed when they died due to PBFD (Unknown how they got it, it is believed that the cockatiel is the carrier?).
Any questions/interest please feel free to send a message.
