WINTER GROOM NEEDED - from 1st November until end April (however, there will be ample opportunity to do some ad-hoc hours before this) to help with all duties on a livery yard.
PLACE: We have a friendly livery yard which is part of a 600 acre arable farm business, situated mid-way between Shrewsbury and Wellington, just off the B5061 (old A5).
DUTIES will include: Early morning turnout (6.30am - 8am), afternoon bring-in (2.30pm - 4.30pm), including full livery services: mucking out, skipping out, filling haynets, water, preparing feeds, rug changes, feet picking, paddock poo-picking, keeping yard swept and tidy.
THE PERSON: Ideally we are seeking someone who lives fairly locally, (so bad weather in winter doesn't prevent them getting to work) who loves horses, with equestrian experience, not afraid of hard work, not nesh in bad weather, very responsible outlook, confident of dealing with all types of horses (including skittish ones on windy days) and although you will be mainly working alongside someone else, we need someone who can be trusted to reliably work on their own, and use their own initiative. Own transport (bike or car!) preferred. The land we farm is owned by The National Trust and as such we hope to find a person who also cares for and embraces a love of the surrounding natural countryside.
Hourly rate according to age and experience - in first instance, please send covering letter and CV/work history.
