Jackie is a sweet natured mare and doesn't kick or bite. She is good in traffic, have her hooves done, loading/unloading. She is well schooled and hacks out alone or in company. She has mainly been a companion pony during the time that I have owned her and out of work for 2 years. I have recently brought her back in to work and although a little nervous she has been very good. Jackie was diagnosed with Cushings disease when she had laminitis (she has only had laminitis once) in October 2016 because her ACTH level was 74.1 however her last blood test showed ACTH level to be 17.8 (well below the seasonal average). Given that Jackie's ACTH levels are now so low it is unlikely that she had Cushings disease. She is due to come off medication and if ACTH levels remain with the normal range she will not require any further treatment. Jackie will continue to require weight management however to prevent laminitis.
Jackie has a little age related stiffness in her back legs. I would say Jackie can sometimes get a little stressed, is forward going and can be a little nervous when hacking out alone at first however it is likely she would become more confident with the right person, technique and regular work over time and hack out alone with no issues. Jackie can also jump but tends to get stressed after the first jump. If she were to jump she would need some training in this area to help her relax.
