Jackie is a sweet natured mare who I have owned for 5 years. She has never kicked or bitten me during the time that I have owned her. She is good in traffic, have her hooves trimmed, load and unload. She is also well schooled and hacks out alone or in company and has not bucked or reared whilst I have ridden her. She is unshod but requires boots for her front hooves when hacking.
Jackie has mainly been a companion pony during the time that I have owned her and out of work for a number of years. I have recently brought her back in to work and although a little nervous when hacking out alone she has been very good. Jackie was diagnosed with Cushings disease when she had laminitis in October 2016 (she has only had laminitis once during the time that I have owned her). Her ACTH level (tested December 2017) is 36 pg/ml and she is not receiving medication, however she will continue to require weight management to prevent future laminitis. She also has a little age related stiffness in her back legs.
As Jackie can sometimes become stressed when she is away from the herd, forward going and requires confidence from her handler/rider she would not be suitable for a novice/beginner.
If Jackie is required to hack out alone she would need reassurance from a confident, kind but firm, patient rider. Jackie can also jump but tends to get a little stressed so she is in need of some training in this area to help her relax.
Alternatively Jackie can be considered as a companion for a pony/horse that also requires restricted grazing/weight management.
Jackie is kept in the Strines area (SK22) and will be rehomed with tack, rugs and front boots.
Suitability of home will be assessed prior to rehoming.
