Oxfam Bookshop Lymington Large, heavy volume. Red cloth hard covers with gilt titles on the spine, covers are in Fine condition. Small owner name on the first free endpaper. Binding is tight. Text is clean and unmarked. There is some light foxing on some of the endpapers and the page edges. The unclipped dust jacket is rather worn and discoloured with stains on the front and spine, short tears at the top and base of the spine and at the folds. Duke-Elder was a Scottish ophthalmologist who was a dominant force in his field for more than a quarter of a century. His seven volumes of "Textbook of Ophthalmology" and fifteen volumes (in nineteen books) of "System of Ophthalmology" provided the educational foundation for most of the world's ophthalmologists. His monumental contribution to medical literature earned him the title of Fellow of the Royal Society in 1960. This is volume VI of Duke-Elder's magnum opus.
