Advert Description

Oxfam Bookshop Witney Subtitled: 'Including Anecdotes of a Naval Life: Chiefly for the Use of Young Persons' Published in 1831 by Robert Cadell, Edinburgh. This is a fascinating account of life in the Navy. The author, Captain Basil Hall, RN, FRS, as well as describing his own experiences, talks in depth about the role of a ship's captain. This will be a great read for anyone with an interest in naval matters in the naval matters in the early nineteenth century. This is volume two of a three volume set by the author but it stands well as a volume on its own. There is a fair amount of rubbing wear and some damage, particularly on the sun-faded spine. A few of the pages are coming loose from the bindings. However the internal pages are complete and are in a good clean condition. Overall in reasonable condition for a book of this age.
