The Saab Audio system with multi waveband radio, CD player, auxiliary IPod and MP3 player input with steering wheel mounted radio and audio controls and the Saab rear park assist. The 9-3 Aero turbo diesel uses the superb 180 bhp version of Saab's DTR twin turbo TTiD power unit, this engine is designed to provide instant throttle response throughout the rev range. Two turbochargers, one small, one large, are used. When the driver presses the throttle, the smaller turbo is able to react faster than the bigger unit, so from idle to 1,500rpm, it is used. From there, the second turbocharger is brought into play, while from 3,000rpm on, the larger one works on its own. The engine produces a very useful 400 nm of torque between 1850 and 2750 rpm giving the car a very responsive mid-range acceleration and making for a very relaxed driving technique, hardly any need to change down, just press a little harder on the go pedal and let the engines torque do the rest !The 9-3 convertible is by far the most practical of the Rag Tops a very comfortable four seater that easily has more usable space than its competitors, driving a convertible always involves a degree of compromise between what is functional and what is fun, however the 9-3 keeps these compromises to the minimum. The hood mechanism is both very quick and easy to use, requiring the touch of just one switch to both lower and raise it, the hood is locked in place automatically and has no clumsy mechanical latches to manually fasten.
