CLASSIC ?HEPPLEWHITE DESIGN? SIDEBOARD / BUFFET. Lovely Mahogany Serpentine Sideboard originally crafted to a George Hepplewhite Design (1727 ? 1786) in England around 1950. The mahogany has developed a deep patina and is complemented by inlaid satinwood banding around the top of the piece, around the two side cabinet doors and the upper middle drawer: The darker flame mahogany inside the satinwood banding contrasts with the lighter toned mahogany outside. Each cabinet has plenty of storage space with one shelf and each has a working lock and one cabinet pull. The central upper drawer also has a working lock and two drawer pulls. The piece measures 61W x 21D x 36inH and comes with one key. The lower central drawer has no lock and the drawer pull is the overlapping serpentine upper part, which echoes the serpentine front of the piece. The drawers are solid dovetail jointed and the drawers and side cabinet doors have narrow, solid, raised rounded wood edging. The six legs on this piece are square tapered solid mahogany terminating in spade feet. There are some small scratches and distress marks that can only be noticed at close quarters. They are signs of the life of the piece and could be easily restored by a good cabinet maker. The price reflects the condition. More pictures of the cabinet detail and the marks are available if required.
