Quite old (probably much older than 1900), Mahogany (perhaps), but quite light (so it might be a different wood - rosewood, maybe?) with a rather nice shell-like inlay motif and brass handles.
The edging has been repaired, probably by my Dad, from what I can tell. One bit of the edging is missing, but, overall, it is really rather nice, so I can see why my parents would have kept the tray.
