An antique print of the ancient priory, long associated with the Dunmow Flitch. Engraved by Samuel Lacey (1786-1859) from an original study by the landscape painter Thomas Mann Baynes. Originally produced for "The History and Topography of Essex" published in parts from 1831.
Samuel Lacey was a well-known professional architectural and landscape engraver, whose name appears in connection with many of the great series of steel plate views that were so popular in Victorian England.
