The time has come to move my 2008 Honda Civic FD2 Type R on as an opportunity to get on the property ladder has arisen. The car has been completely faultless in the short time I have owned it. Getting on the property ladder is the only reason she has to go and I trust the pictures and link to the video do help to showcase her condition.
She was originally imported by Litchfield Imports from new which they purchased from Honda main dealer in Japan (so no unknown Japanese history to worry about).
The car has covered just over 66,500 miles (VOSA verified and HPI Clear. Checks should be done on her old private plate “MU56 GEN” – All miles on the vehicle were covered in the UK so there are no mileage discrepancies like you often find with some imported vehicles, the clocks read 66,500 miles).
The car has full service history (not one of these imports with supposed "full" history when there is ironically no history before import) which has always been carried out by either the main dealer, Hond-R or Performance Autoworks and has evidently always been maintained regardless of cost. The service history is summarised as follows:
- April 2009 – Hond-R – 8,928 miles
- June 2010 – Honda – 18,754 miles
- July 2011 – Honda – 27,384 miles
- July 2012 – Honda - 33,848 miles
- July 2013 – Performance Autoworks – 39,031 miles
- July 2014 – Honda – 45,402 miles
- July 2015 – Honda – 50,177 miles
- July 2016 - Honda – 57,803 miles
- July 2017 – Honda – 64,107 miles
In my ownership I have had the car freshly re-undersealed as a preservative measure I have pictures during and after to show any prospective buyers. This was a proper 3 stage job using 3M products not a cheap tin of Waxoyl etc. The car has been undersealed obviously before which is documented in the paperwork I have with the car. I was always planning to underseal the car upon purchase for peace of mind.
I have had the wheels refurbished and are wrapped in AD08R tyres. The fronts have plenty of tread and the rears probably 2-3mm so will be due a change probably after summer.
Cosmetically the car is in excellent condition with only a few stone chips stopping it being perfect, which are to be expected on a 10 year old car. That being said the cars condition does defy its age. Over winter I have treated the car to a two stage paint correction and it looks much the better for it. The wheels are unmarked (as above) and the paint is in excellent condition. The arches are also solid.
The Interior of the car is also in very good condition and is the much rarer (and much smarter in my opinion) all black option. The driver seat does have the usual wear you can expect with these Alcantara seats but the passenger seat and rear bench are unmarked. The rest of the interior is also unmarked. There are no rips or stains in the carpet or anything untoward like that and the plastics are also in fantastic condition. All electrical functions work as they should, air con blows ice cold and the reverse camera comes on immediately as the car is placed in reverse.
Mechanically the car is faultless. The K20 lump is extremely quiet (I’ve owned 3 K20’d cars now and this is by far the best running one – its obvious the service history has kept this engine running as sweet as it can). There are no noises, crunches, smoke or anything untoward in that department. VTEC engages strongly, exactly how it should. The gearbox is also the best I have had in any of my previous Type R’s. There is no crunching cold or warm.
The car is very OEM+ in current guise with the following modifications:
- Tein Street Flex Coilovers (more compliant on our roads than the OEM FD2 suspension)
- Genuine Mugen Front Lip
- Genuine Mugen Grill
- Genuine Mugen Wind Deflectors
- HEL Braided hoses all round
- Kenwood Double Din radio with iPod/iPhone/Aux connectivity
- Sat Nav built in to the radio.
- Rear reversing Camera
The car has an Autowatch alarm fitted and will come with a few extras including:
- Spare OEM FD2 wheel
- OEM Front Grill
- OEM Painted boot surround for if the buyer wants to remove the reverse camera
- Spare set of Brembo front pads (ones on the car have plenty of life left as well)
The car has to be seen in person to be appreciated, viewings are encouraged. Test drives will only be granted if you have fully comprehensive insurance on my vehicle (your own policy on another car will not suffice) and the asking price in my hand. That being said I am happy to take any prospective buyers out in the car and answer any questions you may have.
Price is £14,700 OVNO. Please don’t offer me in the 13’s as you will be wasting both our times.
A walk around video of the exterior and interior condition and engine running can be found on youtube, please message me and I will provide the link for the footage.
Please also message me for more pictures I have a significant sized album I can send across how ever only three are available on here.
Best regards and thanks for looking.
