We’re very sad to sell our 1985 Cobra 850, which has given us a lot of enjoyment over the last three years. Unfortunately, we don’t have the time to use her as much as she deserves. We’ve worked really hard to keep her up to date and well looked after.
She’s a 28ft sailing boat (28ft and 6 inches to be exact) with a beam of 9ft 6 and a draft of 4ft 3. She has a fin keel and is tiller steered.
She has a Yanmar 2QM 15 horse power engine, which has been annually serviced and can maintain a comfortable 4.5-5.0 knots on long journeys with no drama.
Her standing rigging has been recently inspected and tuned. Of significant note is the brand new harken roter furler for the Genoa, which is being installed currently. The sails have also been valeted and repaired (main and Genoa, there is also a spinnaker and a number of other sails, but we’re not that adventurous so have never used them!)
There are four winches, which have been serviced annually. There is a CQR anchor with 30m chain and 10m warp. The boat was hauled out in 2017 for winter, when it was re-antifouled.
Various warps and fenders are included, along with 4 self inflating life jackets. The tender and 2 year old outboard are also included.
The water and fuel tanks are both 50 litres and have been recently refurbished. The water system is pressurised and filtered.
She has quite a tasty electronics array, including a Garmin colour GPS, Raymarine depth/log, NASA AIS receiver, SimRad tiller pilot and ICOM VHS radio. She also has a mains battery charger for her two batteries (new 2017) and a solar trickle charger.
Internally, there is a saloon with a small kitchen area, featuring a sink, oven and hob (gas fed). The table is folding, with wine storage. There is an abundance of lockers (both under seat and eye level). Both seats convert to small double beds, and there is a small quarter birth on the starboard side. In addition, there is a small fore cabin, separated by the heads (recently serviced) and wardrobe.
There are a couple of chips in the gelcoat, but she’s an old girl. I’ve got a survey from 2016, which I’d be happy to share. She’s a gorgeous boat, who is likely to require further TLC but is sail ready and well loved. She’ll make a beautiful boat for the right owner.
