Kirklees Fire & Ice AKA Jessie, 5* experienced home ONLY! NO NOVICES!
Future potential Workers or Dressage pony.
Jessie is a 14.1/2 h 2012 Chestnut registered Welsh D Mare with 4 whites & a star. She has a very attractive Welsh head and a real look at me attitude in the show ring. She has presence and quality and will do well at showing once produced. Her movement is straight, and she has such a naturally balanced canter that is sure to be an asset if you wish to have a future dressage star. Equally Jessie has a nice little pop in her and is showing promise over both natural & coloured fences.
Jessie was bred by the Schofield family at Dearne Valley Stud, she is by their prolific stallion, Dearne Valley Gold Bullion, who has sired some of the studs most successful horses. Jessie's breeding has some great sire lines including the legendary Trevallion Flash Jack and his equally successful son Trevallion Jacks Image. She has Roan, Palomino & Dun/Buckskin lines, so it would be interesting to know her DNA as she may be an asset to any stud, wanting to breed for colour. Some of Jessie's siblings are out being shown successfully, including with Scott Gibbons of Tymor Stud, they are proving to be consistent champions & always in the medals.
She hacks in company over open fields and has been ridden on quiet town roads and has been passed by cars, vans, motorbikes, trailers & buses etc. She is snaffle mouthed but does require an experienced rider as she can get ‘stuck’ and not take the lead or refuse to walk past something scary, she has however been ridden by many novice’s when hacking in company, if your happy to just toddle behind. She is hacking alone regularly but again can get ‘sticky’ and naps, when first leaving the yard area and does require a whip to get going. Once out and riding forward she will hack alone nicely.
Currently Jessie is turned out with a small private mixed herd and eats hay & haylage, beds on straw or shavings and to my knowledge she has no allergies etc. She is good to handle on the yard but can be a little ‘welshy’ and head strong/pushy at times, so not ideal for a small child or novice. She is easy to prepare for shows and has travelled in trailers, 7.5tonnes & 3.5tonne box vans, she loads & travels fine but does sweat up. She is a good doer and doesn’t require any feeding up and to the best of my knowledge she doesn’t get excitable from feeds etc. The farrier has commented on her good well balanced and strong feet. She is currently shod in front but could easily go barefoot.
To date Jessie has been shown extensively in-hand from a 6month old foal and she is very well trained in this area, she has a bundle of rosettes under her belt. She has been to a couple of ridden shows, 1 being a championship show, were she went indoors in an evening performance & stabled away from home. More recently she has been to a couple of local shows and apart from being fidgety in the line-up, she was very well behaved and placed high in all her classes. Recently she has done a XC endurance 25k ride and she jumped everything and was a little star Inc. going through a river & riding on the roads. She has attended natural horsemanship ground work clinics also. She has been to a local SJ to do the clear round, popped round a small novice workers course showing big potential in this area! Doesn’t look at anything just green. She has done fun beach rides were she (after some persuasion) went in the sea & had a swim!! & recently undertook her first unaffliated BD tests where she came 2nd in the intro and 1st in the preliminary.
In the school Jessie is green and does need more work. The basics are there for walk, trot, canter and a small pop. She can be fidgety in her head / contact, but this is slowly improving and will come with more education. She has again been ridden by novices in the school but wants an experienced home to further her education & bring out her potential.
Unfortunately, Jessie does have capped hocks, I really don’t think these are that bad and they don’t hinder her in anyway and she has been shown both in-hand & under saddle with these at local level and they have not had a detrimental effect on her placings. Up to date with farrier (shod in front), dentist (wolf teeth removed), physio, worming & injections etc.
Transport from Sheffield can be arranged at extra cost, if not too far away. Home is the priority but please don’t be cheeky with offers. Doesn’t come with any tack. Jessie has been in the same home since a foal, so all history is known, and this is a heart-breaking sale for personal reasons and through no fault of her own. Good trial facilities, no time wasters ! No Loans or LWVTB !
Rider in some of the pictures is 5’6” and 9 stone so gives you an idea of how she carries her rider. Ideal for a brave competitive teen or small adult.
£1950 OVNO for a quick sale to the right home.
NOTE: Jessie is currently on sales livery in Sheffield where all her recent schooling has been taking place. So any viewings will need to take place there. Anyone interested should contact me in the first instance and I will pass on relevant contact information
