Hippo is a very smart 14.2hh 7yr old Piebald cob mare with the wow factor!
In the school, Hippo has 3 nice paces in the school and tries her hradest to please, she is quite green for her age and had clearly done very little before coming to us. She is a nice straight mare who really would do well in the show ring.
Jumping, This is an area we have not done a lot in, she will pop a small course of fences in the school, but that’s as far as we have got. She makes a nice shape over a fence so can really improve here with her new owners.
XC: We have taken Hippo Cross Country training where she really shocked and impressed us, she gave everything a go and her confidence grew and grew the more she did, she had no issues with water even with it being very shallow due to the heat wave we have had. She jumps roll tops and logs and went up and down steps. She was happy to follow or give a lead.
Hacking: Hippo hacks alone or in company and has hacked all our different types of roads here. From our not so quite country lanes to the busy b road into town. She is well mannered. She is by no means a bombproof horse, she will spook if something surprises her! But she is very genuine and then just gets on with it.
Open Spaces: Hippo enjoys a good canter around the fields and is easy to pull up at all times, she is also snaffle mouth at all times.
Manners, Hippo has been good to load and travel with us, good for the farrier *currently shod in front) good to groom, tack up, catch and turn out, never bargy or silly.
When Hippo arrived with us she did take sometime to settle and got rather attached to the others until she became comfortable with us.
She is not for a nervous rider or a complete novice for the following reasons
1) She will take time to settle
2) she is green for her age so does need to continue her education
3) She can be clingy to other horses so needs a confident rider to push her forward
Who would she suit? Hippo would suit a mother daughter share, a show home, we think she would bring home the ribbons ridden and in hand. Hacking, fun rides, low level riding club or a dressage cob.
Up to date with teeth and back, she moves straight and correct and would really excel in the right home.
