Rodney is a 5yr old 16.2hh Irish Sport Horse. I have owned him a year in late October.
Rodney is a super smart and honest horse, he is very eager to please with a heart of gold and definitely has a unique and loveable character - he's like a dope on a rope. He loves attention and will stand to be groomed for hours. He is good with the farrier, vet, dentist and to catch. Has travelled before in a box and has proved to be fine apart from getting sweaty.
I purchased Rodney last year with the intentions to show and eventualy event however, I have not had the time due to school commitments to produce him more and he has been wasted, I don't want him to spend another year doing not a lot and I can't give him the work he needs as I'm now doing my A-Levels. At the moment he's living out 24/7.
He is good in the school to walk, trot and canter and to hack alone and in company, however is still very green due to his age and needs someone experienced to work on both his schooling and his confidence as when not ridden regularly, like present, he can become uninterested and lazy. He has a nice jump on him and I believe he would make a superb hunter.
He has lived out with both mares and geldings and has been stabled next to a stallion before. He has proven to be very affectionate but not clingy. He gets on with just about everything.
He's a big horse and can be strong, however is ridden in a snaffle and that seems to work well for him.
He is passported and insured and is fully up to date with the dentist, farrier, vaccinations and worming. Vet and dentist records can be provided. He is currently barefoot as I pulled his shoes before turning him out to mature this year however my farrier agrees that he has good, strong feet. His birthday is the 1st January.
He will come with his full tack which includes his Micklem bridle and Kent and Masters GP saddle as well as all his grooming kit, head collars, rugs etc.
I want Rodney to go out to someone on full loan with a view of a possible sale. Somewhere where he will get all the time and attention he deserves and be further produced. The loan agreement will be further worked out with the person however I am not looking for money just somewhere he will be well looked after. I love this horse very much and finding the right home for him is my top priority. Future homes/livery yards will be checked before purchase. Absolutely no novices. I would like him to stay local however this can be further discussed.
Please feel free to ask any questions.
