Advert Description

This First World War Etching was discovered behind a picture that had been taken out of it’s frame for cleaning. It had been used for backing for the picture and had remained hidden for the last 100 years.??The poster is slightly marked through the middle This is due to a slit in the original wooden slats that held the back of the frame together. ?This small opening has allowed in the air and dust particles over the years ??The poster was printed by the legendary Thomas Forman of Nottingham and is estimated to have been commissioned sometime during 1915. It would appear that by the time the poster was ready for publication the members of the Trustees were in disarray and therefore it was decided that the poster should not be released. ??(Please see the list of characters below and I feel sure you will reach the same conclusion)??I truly believe there is not another copy of this wonderful piece of History to be found anywhere.??The Trustees of The Empire were as follows.
King George V
Herbert Henry Asquith Prime Minister
Sir Edward Grey Foreign secretary.
Horatio Herbert Kitchener First Earl Kitchener of Khartoum.
General John Denton Pinkstone French Commander in Chief British Expeditionary Force.
Winston Churchill First Lord of the Admiralty.
John Jellicoe, 1st Earl Jellicoe Admiral of the fleet.?
