We have available 3 pairs (male, female) of grey South American Rhea looking for new homes.
These inquisitive birds are 7/8 months old and are DNA sexed (hence the yellow spray on them) and come with certificates for each bird.
???? So what do you need to know? ????
Adult rheas are easy to care for and can be treated much the same as poultry. They thrive on Ostrich Pellets and require plenty of space to exercise their legs so ideal in paddocks or orchard types of setup. They are good forages and hardy. They do not necessarily require shelter however a field shelter or stable when the weather is really horrid is appreciated. They can be kept in standard extended stock fencing however if startled, can jump 6ft. The males can be protective in the breeding season but do not kick! They may peck but full advice can be provided as to how to combat this.
These youngsters may possibly require protection from foxes still depending on your setup. They are currently housed at night and go in for food.
Full support and advice available.
Good, kind homes only please.
