Eschscholzia californica ‘Ballerina Mix’ / Californian Poppy

A Californian Poppy with an attractive mix of large double and semi double flowers in in a wide range of brilliant colours. Flowers have crinkled edges and appear from June to August/September, sitting neatly on mounds of feathery leaves. Plants grow to about 25cm in height and may need support in exposed areas.
Californian Poppies prefer sun and poor or moderately fertile soil. They will self-seed, although the colours may change in subsequent years as the bees will cross-pollinate the flowers.
Sow directly into prepared soil in early autumn or late spring. Early spring sowings can be done in pots or indoors in seed trays. If sowing indoors, tray in a tray or modules of seed compost, keep at room temperature and germination takes 1-2 weeks.
