Advert Description

Antique Georgian (George V) fine silver chatelaine ladies calling card case & chain with finger ring. Fully hallmarked. Maker Henry Matthews, Birmingham. Date: 1914. Gilt inside. 82 grams weight.
Very good antique condition.
Gilded/gilt/gold tone inside.
A few age/use related surface scratches & dints around the edges, slight bowing on back possibly use related.
Otherwise very good condition - hinge still in full working order and includes original chain and ring to attach it to a belt or to allow it to be worn on a finger for safety.
Engine turned decorative design on front and back around the edges.
Centre panels front and back have a vertical lined design with dots.
Front central cartouche is engraved "AMJ". Sides are plain.
Hallmarked on outside of lid with lion passant showing it is silver and the anchor mark for Birmingham assay office.
Hallmarked on inside lip:"HM" for Henry Matthews,Vittoria Street, Birmingham; Anchor for Birmingham; Lion passant for silver: Letter "p" for 1914.
Measures approx 9.7cm tall, 7cm wide, 1cm thick.
Weight 82g.
Provenance: belonged to a relative.
