Advert Description

Oxfam Bookshop Bristol Terry Pratchett Doubleday, 1999. First edition. Signed by the author. Hardback; 165 x 240 mm; red boards with gold titles on spine; 317 pages. Original unclipped dust jacket. The book is in very good condition. The binding is sound and tight which may suggest that the book has never been read. It still has two red bookmarks announcing that Terry Pratchett would be signing copies at W H Smith in Bath. The defects are minimal. There is only slight bumping to the top of the dust jacket, and a tiny chip on the bottom of the jacket at the back. Sir Terry Pratchett (1948 – 2015) is best known for his Discworld series of 41 novels with his distinctive writing style. The Fifth Element is a further instalment in the Discworld cycle. Sam Vimes is a man on the run. Yesterday he was a duke, a chief of police, and the ambassador to the mysterious, fat-rich country of Uberwald. Now he has nothing but his native wit and the gloomy trousers of Uncle Vanya. It’s snowing. It’s freezing. And if he can’t make it through the forest to civilization there’s going to be a terrible war. But there are monsters on his trail. They’re fast. They’re werewolves – and they’re catching up. Sam Vimes is out of time, out of luck and already out of breath.... This volume will clearly appeal to all fans of the Discworld cycle and equally to those coming new to the fantastical world that Terry Pratchett created. Its condition should also appeal to collectors. See Oxfam website for delivery information
