1992 reg, 98000 miles, Manual 2990cc Petrol, 3 door Convertible, Blue. The 944 is rapidly becoming a modern classic with the S2 Cabriolet being particularly sought after. As of 2017, there are only 48 of the most recent 1992 S2 Cabrios left on the road in the UK. This particular car was factory fitted with all mod-cons of the day such as electric seats, electric convertible roof, ABS, electric windows, Blaupunkt stereo speakers and many other features. Recently, a Bluetooth stereo and handsfree has been fitted, with extensive work done to the electrics to ensure reliable function. The battery has just been replaced with a brand-new heavy-duty Varta. All 4 tyres have plenty of tread including the space-saver tyre in the boot space (with original Porsche tool kit and electric air compressor!). The timing belt was replaced quite recently and it was last serviced in Jun 16. About the 944 - Announced in 1981, the 944 was the third of Porsche's new family of front-engined sports cars. A close relative of the 924 original, the 944 was constructed along similar lines and from a distance was hard to tell apart from its progenitor. Beneath the bodywork (50mm wider than the 924's) was a 2.5-litre, 163bhp overhead-camshaft 'four' fitted with twin balancer shafts to counter the vibration often encountered in such units. The rear transaxle - a five-speed affair this time - was retained, while the 924-type running gear was suitably up-rated to cope with the 944's superior performance. Subsequent developments included a Turbo, 16-valve 944S, 3.0-litre S2 models and a cabriolet, while the base model's 8-valve engine grew to 2.7-litres. recorded as v-car but fixed to a high professional standard, Porsche claimed a maximum power output of 211bhp for the S2 and a top speed of around 150mph.
