Der Treue Teddy

Advert Description

Oxfam Books & Music London This delightfully illustrated tale is of Peter, a rather ungrateful child who is presented with a new Teddy for his birthday, which he rejects as being for much younger children. However, a solo excursion into the woods on his new scooter finds him lost and frightened - and Teddy it is who finally tracks him down and brings him home. A moral story, of course, warning against ingratitude, and encouraging helpfulness... Beatrice Braun-Fock (1898–1973) illustrated over fifty children’s picture books between 1919 and 1960. Our copy is in good condition, and presumed a first edition copy, as a previous owner's name on the reverse of the front fep is dated 1934. Publisher's number on front cover is 503. The illustrated board front cover is rather stained - possibly foxing, though there is none inside apart from a very few spots inside the back cover. The red cloth spine is faded, but surprisingly unworn apart from at the bottom, where it is torn and fraying. The back cover's plain buff paper is almost unmarked, but a little age-worn; a tiny round green sticker numbered 93 is pasted at the top R/H corner. Corners are bumped and damaged, and the book is somewhat bowed. Inside, the binding is generally firm, though there is some minor cracking of the spine angle at both hinges. Decorated endpapers otherwise intact. An Innsbruck bookseller's label is pasted at the bottom outer corner inside the back cover. Strong paper pages are clean, bright and unmarked, and the charming illustrations are perhaps the main feature. A delightful little book. See Oxfam website for delivery information
