Beautiful etching by Gerhard (Gerrit) Christiaan Haverkamp.In virtually new condition and comes in a nice (flower) mahogany frame.No discolouration and/or spots. The photos show visible colouring which is a result of poor light exposure.The etching is signed on the bottom right in pencil.A similar copy is in the possession of the museum De Lakenhal in Leiden.Gerhard (Gerrit) Christiaan Haverkamp (Amsterdam 1872 - Baarn 1926) was educated presumably at the drawing school Felix Meritis in Amsterdam. He was mentored by Maurits Willem van der Valk (1857-1935). As a painter, he was self-taught. Was a member of the art society Arti et Amicitiae and the association for the improvement of graphic art ‘De Grafische’.Topics are mostly landscape and architecture. Made cityscapes in Amsterdam, Leiden and Antwerp. Painted, among other things, harbour views and the canals. From the countryside, his farms, and farm landscapes, are famous, but his forest and dune landscapes are also well-known. Haverkamp’s work is included in the collection of various museums and collectors.The etching will be carefully packed and - at the risk of the buyer - will be sent via Postnl. 22825105
