Rudolf Dammeier (* 18. January 1851 in Berlin; † 12. June 1936) was a German genre and portrait painter as well as a draughtsman. From 1871 to 1875 he studies at the Berlin Academy of Architecture and till 1878 at the Royal Prussian Academy of Arts. He then studied at the art school in Karlsruhe. From 1890 to 1893 he lived in Munich, then returned to Berlin.Rudolf Dammeier also took part in international art exhibitions. From 1890 to 1892, he took part in the Berliner art exhibition. From 1896 to 1900, he took part in the Berlin Secession. At the World Fair in 1900 in Paris, he received a memorable mention about his oeuvre.The work on offer, a watercolour raised with chalk (mixed technique), was made in 1898 by Rudolf Dammeier in Torbole (Italy) near Lake Garda. Beautifully affected is the execution of the four boys who are about to take a dip in the lake. The work is framed in a gold-coloured ornamental frame with museum glass.Details: the artwork was privately own for decades. At the back the work is signed and dated. 22770477
