Flower still life by Paul Dubois, painter and renowned jazz musician from Brussels. Dubois was born in Ixelles on 24 January 1924. At an early age, he came into contact with painting and jazz music. He was educated at the Academy of fine arts in Bruges. He completed his training at the Royal Academy of fine arts in Brussels. He started his musical career as a pianist but soon switched to double bass. As an autodidact, he became one of the most renowned jazz-contra bass players of Europe and played with great artists such as Toots Thielemans, Max Roach, Lester Young, Hank Jones and many, many others.
