In this remarkable book, 243 kinds of birds are described. Those included are residents or regular visitors that are likely to be seen by the average bird-watcher.

To assist those who record the birds they see on lists provided by natural history societies, the Wetmore order of classification is given in the introductory pages with references to where the birds appear in this book.
