Advert Description

2001 reg, 3500 miles, Manual 5474cc PETROL, Convertible, Red. With the introduction of the 550 Maranello in 1997, Ferrari returned to its custom of building front-engined V12 sports cars, reviving a style that had remained dormant since the demise of the 365GTB/4 Daytona in 1974. The 550 Maranellos 48-valve, 5.5-litre V12 developed 485bhp at 7,000rpm, some 100-or-so horsepower more than the Daytona's. Ferrari had discovered that providing optimum balance in a front-engined sports car necessitated the use of a rear transaxle, and the Maranellos came with six speeds. The 550 Barchetta was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 2000. The car was a true roadster with no real convertible top provided, while a temporary roof was provided by the factory, it was advised that the car was not to exceed 70mph. A total of 448 Barchettas were built, with all examples sporting carbon fibre backed racing seats as standard. This RHD example is finished in Rosso Corsa over Nero Leather and was first delivered in December 2001. The car maintains original books and a vast amount of service invoices, whilst also being supplied with a Nossek Carbon Fibre Hardtop roof as well a High-Speed soft top roof. The car has been awarded red book Classiche Certification and also benefits from a major service and cambelt change last year. It sits today in brilliant condition, showing just under 3,500 miles from new. The 550 Barchetta is a true collectors item, especially in the iconic Rosso Corsa paintwork and is the perfect car for open-top, V12 motoring!
