This book describes the topography and local history of the counties of Lancashire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire at the time of publishing. This volume was one of eighteen multi-part volumes that were arranged by county, nine of which were at least partially written by John Britton. The book includes engraved illustrations in black and white. The book has obvious signs of damage and wear, though it is still in one piece. The cover is meant to be marbled half-leather, however the leather has deteriorated on both the corners and spine, and parts of the marbled cover have been torn off the board. Internally, there are small cuts on the first and second pages, and some writing in pen on the fourth page, but the book is in otherwise good condition, with clean pages, strong binding and clear illustrations. Of possible interest for those interested in county history or a project for restoration.
